For this project, I used the camera app on my iPad, along with the YouTube Capture App to upload the video to YouTube. I tried a new way of uploading videos on here, without YouTube, but it didn't work out very well so I went back to what I knew how to do. I'm often wary of getting "too" personal with projects like this, so I chose something that is relevant to my education and also a really huge impact in how my life has turned. I didn't always want to be a teacher, and when I was growing up it wasn't even a thought. I knew teachers didn't make a lot of money and it seemed pretty thankless, but over the years working as support staff in schools and learning about teaching, I realize that I do think this is my calling.
I'm often reminded of many Calvin and Hobbes comics by Bill Watterson, he often makes jabs and accurate observations of teaching and students in school. I feel like many things we learn we may not use right away, but will come in handy later. With this notecards confessions project, I never thought I would be doing something like this. However, I can see how it would be valuable in a classroom. Usually it is based on a personal story, but it could also be told from the point of view of someone in history. In a science classroom, I can see how this would be useful for a research project on important scientists and the discoveries they've made. One of my personal favorites is Rosalind Franklin, the woman who discovered the double-helical nature of DNA (and is often overlooked due to the success of Watson and Crick). I would love to have a whole site full of videos made from students about lesser-known scientists and their contributions to the world!
